I read an article a few months ago written and by Mieke Bray
(April 7, 2014 article) that I would like to share with you...
IS Your Soap Making You FAT?
"How is this possible?
"It all has to do with the chemicals used to preserve soap products....some of these chemicals mimic the natural estrogen in our bodies...and that's not good because estrogen levels effect the way the body processes and stores fat".
These chemicals are known as xenoestrogens
The article pointed out that Xenoestrogens increase testosterone conversion to estrogen in both men and women. Extra estrogen encourages fat storage... and that stored fat, produces even more estrogen. All that estrogen flying around can cause a whole mess of problems...Including:
Weight Gain
Increased Cancer risk
Mood Disorders
Sexual dysfunction including infertility
Gynecomastia (man boobs)
Facial Hair in women
"Some of the most suspect xenoestrogens are the parabens."
You've heard of those. You'll find them listed on the labels as
methylparaben,
butylparaben
propylparaben
Parabens and Phthalates
are also hidden by the name: fragrance
What can you do?
Read the Labels
Choose certified organic products
Look for labels "BPA Free" on plastic bottles
FOLLOW YOUR NOSE
"if your laundry detergent, dryer sheets, home fragrance spray, shampoo or body wash has a strong scent...it is especially suspect."
"Whether you are trying to lose weight or keep your family healthy, minimizing exposure to chemical additives is a good idea all around...if you don't buy these products
containing harmful ingredients...
they won't make them anymore!!
VOTE with your dollars!!"
Just remember...to steer clear of Bisphenol-A, which is present in many plastic water bottles and baby bottles.
If you locate a printed number 7 on the bottom of the bottle...
GET RID OF IT!!
Up to 70% of all top cosmetics, microwavable and dishwasher safe food containers are toxic.
Now, you know... that you know
