AVOCADO & CUCUMBER SOAP BARS:
(the gentle cleansing of avocado paired with the healing qualities of cucumber)
Enjoy the decadence...your skin will thank you !!
Avocado offers relief for almost every skin type. It gently cleans oily skin with no irritation, to keep pores clear and healthy. For dry, sensitive skin, it soothes quickly and penetrates to nourish and moisturize...and because it's a moisturizer and a cleanser, Avocado Face and Body Soap continues working after you bathe. The fresh citrus scent is a gentle reminder that it's helping to keep your skin soft, supple and healthy all day long. A natural astringent.
Avocado soap is valued as a treatment for dry-type eczema and rashes, by moisturizing the skin with the fatty oils in the avocado oil and nurturing the skin with Vitamins A, D and E.
Avocado butter is especially good for dry, dull skin which has wrinkles. It can be beneficial for sensitive, stressed and prone to acne skin, boils and pimples. When there is the tendency for acne and pimples, the bitter nature of Avocado soap and butter helps to purify the skin, and improve immunity and skin conditions.
Cucumber is rich in sulphur and therefore it is very good for skin care and it can actually lighten the dark signs of aging thanks to its decongesting properties. Dermatological experts also recommend using cucumber to ease sunburn. When used continuously, it can also help to improve wrinkles. The old tradition of putting cucumber slices on swollen eyes is known by everyone: cucumbers can reawaken the eyes, rejuvenating the skin around them and reduce dark bags. In cosmetics, cucumber flesh is used to make a refreshing and hydrating facial mask, the seeds are used for toning and firming masks and the juice is used for soothing wipes for sensitive skin. In conclusion, to reduce wrinkles and make the skin softer and brighter, is it possible to create a very efficient facial mask using crushed cucumber, some olive oil and some drops of lemon juice. This treatment has a cleaning action that cleanses and reduces expanded and/or closed pores and it is also appropriate for sensitive skin that cannot tolerate soap or hard water. The outcome of this treatment is superior to any lotion and is definitely cheaper.
Pairing together avocado and cucumber is a win win situation for all.
Remember...avocado cleans...cucumber heals.

Is Your SOAP Making You FAT???
Hi Everyone,
I read an article a few months ago written and by Mieke Bray

I read an article a few months ago written and by Mieke Bray
(April 7, 2014 article) that I would like to share with you...
IS Your Soap Making You FAT?
"How is this possible?
"It all has to do with the chemicals used to preserve soap products....some of these chemicals mimic the natural estrogen in our bodies...and that's not good because estrogen levels effect the way the body processes and stores fat".
These chemicals are known as xenoestrogens
The article pointed out that Xenoestrogens increase testosterone conversion to estrogen in both men and women. Extra estrogen encourages fat storage... and that stored fat, produces even more estrogen. All that estrogen flying around can cause a whole mess of problems...Including:
Weight Gain
Increased Cancer risk
Mood Disorders
Sexual dysfunction including infertility
Gynecomastia (man boobs)
Facial Hair in women
"Some of the most suspect xenoestrogens are the parabens."
You've heard of those. You'll find them listed on the labels as
methylparaben,
butylparaben
propylparaben
Parabens and Phthalates
are also hidden by the name: fragrance
What can you do?
Read the Labels
Choose certified organic products
Look for labels "BPA Free" on plastic bottles
FOLLOW YOUR NOSE
"if your laundry detergent, dryer sheets, home fragrance spray, shampoo or body wash has a strong scent...it is especially suspect."
"Whether you are trying to lose weight or keep your family healthy, minimizing exposure to chemical additives is a good idea all around...if you don't buy these products
containing harmful ingredients...
they won't make them anymore!!
VOTE with your dollars!!"
Just remember...to steer clear of Bisphenol-A, which is present in many plastic water bottles and baby bottles.
If you locate a printed number 7 on the bottom of the bottle...
GET RID OF IT!!
Up to 70% of all top cosmetics, microwavable and dishwasher safe food containers are toxic.
Now, you know... that you know

The Gourmet Soap Chef: OUR STORY
INTERVIEW WITH: A. J. Abbley (Owner of The Gourmet Soap Chef)
by Merchants.com (Aug. 2011)
Why did you start your business?
In 2004, I started researching "soap" because I felt my skin was not being properly nourished using commercial soap bars. Since that time, I have become somewhat of an "expert" on clean skin, because skin is on duty protecting the body every minute of the day. Skin is also our first line of defense against infections and attacks on well being. In order to help the skin stay nourished, soft and supple, it really has to be taken care of (this rule applies to males and females alike). I've discovered, in order to prevent "wrinkles" from controlling skin now and in the future, soap should at least contain olive oil or aloe vera. These two ingredients help control
During my research, I discovered some commercial soap companies are putting fats, chemicals, hardeners and the like in their moisturizing bars. The FDA won't even let these companies call their bars "soap"...they are called moisturizing bars. Well, I didn't want those chemicals on my skin. So, I opened The Gourmet Soap Chef, and decided to give people custom soap bars that are pure and organic in nature. My company soap bases are made with vegetable oils and contain no animal by products, hardeners, detergents or filler such as wax or alcohol. In addition, all of my company soap bars are CUSTOM made to order, and no two bars are alike. Small imperfections in my soap bars are not flaws, but bring out the handcrafted quality of custom made soap. I also use 100%
The Gourmet Soap Chef offers "gourmet decadence"...and if you...
"Enjoy the Decadence...your skin will thank you!! "
What makes you different than other similar businesses in your community?
Each year, The Gourmet Soap Chef offers our Artistic Nutcracker soap bars to Ballet Companies to sell as a fundraising item during their Nutcracker ballet performances. During the Christmas holidays, the Nutcracker is presented across the United States by Ballet Companies. We offer our "Nutcracker" soap bars "at cost" to ballet companies, so they can raise money for their organization. Being a past President and Past Assistant Governor of Rotary International, I sincerely believe in "Service Above Self".What do you like most about your community?
Ashburn Farm is a very progressive community. I've only lived in this community approximately 3 years, but the infrastructure has more than doubled since my arrival. New shopping malls and theaters have opened two-fold in this area. I also enjoy being so close to Dulles Airport, and I'm approximately 30 minutes from Washington DC. It's a wonderful community to create a brand, and establish a new business in these hard economic times. (end)Owner: A. J. Abbley

Are you taking care of your feet?
It may not be the first thing you think of each day, but taking care of your feet is important, whether you’re a man, woman, young, old, or a dancer.
Do you actually check your feet on a regular basis? Do you have cuts, bunions or blisters? Maybe an ingrown toenail? And if you have diabetes, checking your feet on a “regular basis” should be defined as every day.
Here are some tips for good foot health:
*Wear shoes that fit (especially if you‘re a woman). Also, as you get older, your shoe size will change, so measure before you buy (especially if you wear pointed toe high heel shoes).
*Keep your feet clean. Dirty feet can lead to additional health problems.
*Use creams or lotions to combat dry scaley skin on your feet.
*See your Doctor if you have a corn or other problems.
*Clip your toe nails to prevent ingrown nails.
*If your feet are swollen (it could be the sign of another health problem) see your Doctor.
And…most importantly..use foot care soap from The Gourmet Soap Chef. We list our soap as “dancer foot soap“, but we know if it’s good enough for a dancer, it’s certainly good enough for your feet. We custom handcraft 4 types of soap bars to soothe tired feet:
(1) sugar scrub soap bars to remove and exfoliate dead skin.
(2) massage soap bars to relax the muscles in your feet. (with or without loofah scrub)
(3) olive oil bars to moisturize your feet.
(4) peppermint soap bars to keep down odor.
